Infonesia FYI — Audio-First Knowledge Sharing Platform
Indonesian paid Q&A platform connecting users with creators and experts through audio responses. Creator economy with payment gateway and Kotlin Android app.
The Problem
Indonesia has a massive creator economy — thousands of influencers, experts, and public figures with loyal followings. But monetization options are limited. Most creators rely on ad revenue, brand deals, or merchandise. Meanwhile, fans and knowledge seekers have no direct way to get personalized advice from the experts they admire. Existing Q&A platforms are text-based and free, meaning experts have little incentive to provide thoughtful answers.
The Solution
Infonesia FYI bridges this gap with an audio-first paid Q&A platform. Users browse creator profiles, pay a fee set by the creator, and ask a question. The creator responds with a personalized audio or video answer — turning knowledge into a monetizable product.
As a freelancer on this project, I contributed to the mobile app development and feature implementation, working alongside the core team to deliver a polished creator economy experience for the Indonesian market.
Key Features
Paid Q&A System
- Per-question pricing — Creators set their own price per question, from affordable rates to premium pricing for top-tier experts
- Audio-first responses — Most answers are recorded as short audio clips (1-5 minutes), giving an intimate, podcast-like feel
- Video responses — Premium option for creators who want to answer face-to-face
- Public answer feed — Previously answered questions are visible to other users, creating a knowledge library
Creator Tools
- Creator profiles — Bio, expertise categories, pricing, and response history
- Earnings dashboard — Revenue tracking, payout management, and transaction history
- Question management — Accept, decline, or queue questions with response deadlines
- Commission model — Platform takes a percentage; creators keep the rest
User Experience
- Category browsing — Content organized by topics: business, entertainment, relationships, tech, lifestyle, religion
- Search and discover — Find creators by name, expertise, or trending topics
- Push notifications — Get notified when your favorite creator posts or your question is answered
- Social sharing — Share answers to social media for viral growth
Platform Infrastructure
- Indonesian payment integration — Support for GoPay, OVO, bank transfer, and other local methods
- Audio/video processing pipeline — Optimized media delivery with CDN for fast playback across Indonesia
- Analytics — Google Analytics and Mixpanel for user behavior and conversion tracking
- Marketing pixels — Facebook Pixel integration for ad campaign optimization
What I Learned
- Audio-first changes everything — Audio responses feel more personal than text and are faster to produce than video. This format lowers the barrier for creators while increasing perceived value for users.
- Creator onboarding is the hardest part — A platform is only as good as its creators. Getting high-profile experts and influencers on board required dedicated outreach and a compelling value proposition.
- Payment localization matters — Indonesian users expect local payment methods. Supporting GoPay, OVO, and bank transfers wasn’t optional — it was essential for conversion.
- Creator economy needs network effects — Like any marketplace, success depends on having enough creators to attract users and enough users to attract creators. The early days require strategic seeding on both sides.
